2023-2024
Your Scout Group fee is made up of a portion that is paid to Scouts Australia (Victoria Branch) for registration and insurances, a District levy and a Group levy.
The Group levy contributes to the maintenance of our equipment, hall and boats.
It also pays utilities, registrations, program supplies and leader training.
Fundraising throughout the year helps to reduce the annual fees – please ensure you contribute to fundraising activities so that others are not carrying your load.
The Membership Fee does not include camping fees and some activity fees. Camping fees are usually dependant on the duration of the camp(2-4 days); where the camp is; the number of members attending. These are typically paid in cash to the Leader and vary from $35 – $70 and include food.
There are other camps and events that are run by Scouts Victoria or a Region; they will set their own fees for those camps.

Payment Methods
All payments are via Bank Transfer. The BSB and Account number are on the invoice.
We have no Credit/Debit Card facility. A cheque is possible, but who has them nowadays.
Of course cash is good too, but you need to place it in an envelope and write whose fees it is for and how much is inside and give it to a leader. The leaders do not have receipt books to write you a receipt on the spot. One can be emailed to you if requested.
Pro-Rata Fee Structure
Leaders
As enticement and recognition of the effort of being a leader, the Scout Group pays all leader’s membership fees, and subsidises the fees for their children too.
What a great way to get a reduction of fees for your children attending the Scout Group.

Venturer Scout Members
Venturers and Rovers are typically in District based units/crews, however they are still registered via their home Group.
Therefore the Scouts Victoria fee and District levy are collected via the Group. The unit/crew is responsible for setting and collecting any other fees.
The annual Venturer fee in Moonee Valley District is $275
Scout Members changing to Venturer Scouts mid-Census Year.
If you are a Scout that will move to Venturers during the year, then we will pro-rata the Group fee as shown below.
This is because Venturers do not meet at our hall and because, as part of their greater responsibilities, Venturers are expected to manage their Unit finances. So to cover any costs, they would organise their own fundraising activities and or set their own fees. The home Group is still responsible for the Scouts Victoria fee and the District fee, so we still collect that. We will therefore pro-rata the Group Fee portion for those who are expected to move on to Venturers in the next membership year (starts 1st April) based on birthday.
